Best Facebook Articles of 2012 and Chat With Mari Smith

Facebook LogoFacebook Bookclub week is coming to a close on Social Media Sun, and we hope that you’ve learned as much as we did about the world’s biggest social network. If you didn’t, there are still two days left, and it just so happens that we have saved the best for last.

The Inaugural #SMSchat with Mari Smith

Today at 6:30pm EST we’re hosting our Inaugural #SMSchat , and we’re totally going to focus on Facebook during the entire hour. Not only will several great SMS writers be in attendance, but we’re going to have special guest Mari Smith with us during the whole hour as well. For those of you that don’t know Mari (have you been living under a rock?), she has been called “the Pied Piper of the Online World” by Fast Company, and is widely known as the premiere Facebook marketing expert bar none.

I could go on for days telling you about her accomplishments and accolades from the media, but you and I both know that the media often writes that stuff to solicit responses from people they think are influential – instead, I want to tell you what I think about Mari, a personal recommendation that I feel is worth more than a media list. First off, she has an amazing personality (you won’t hear me say that about too many people), I would say magnetic. Her enthusiasm and warmth makes it hard for anyone to dislike her, and easy for her to get through to others. I have never known a blogger that is as consistent as Mari when it comes to putting out the right attitude and handling inquiries flawlessly, every time. I’ve saw almost every social media pundit be a prick to a follower at one time or another, or show some passive aggressive tendencies when responding to others – besides Mari. If nothing else, make her your role model when it comes to community relations and dealing with readers.

On top of being someone that you’re going to love to meet, she knows her stuff. All too often social media coaches and bloggers know a few basics, create a bunch of boilerplate posts for their website, and sell the same tired information to people. Mari is on top of things; she’s often the first one that I hear from about important changes to Facebook, she completely understands the advanced metrics and inner workings of each network, and she cuts out all the unimportant stuff. It’s clear in her writing and speaking that she puts a lot of time into studying the platforms and staying up to date with the latest changes.

So I really hope that all you guys can make #SMSchat this evening. It starts at 6:30pm EST / 3:30pm PST and runs for an hour. We also have a special treat for attendees – you’ll have to check it out to find out what it is!

Best Facebook Articles of 2012

I feel that we’ve consistently made great content at Social Media Sun since the day we opened, February 29, 2012. One of the areas that we’ve focused heavily on is Facebook: the changes that affect your business, the best ways to market to your fans, interesting information that is too obscure for most average people to know, and a ton of other good stuff that now resides in the SMS archives. In honor of our Facebook Bookclub week, which was suggested by the Social Media Sun Facebook group by the way, I’d like to present to you the best Facebook articles we’ve published this year. If you missed these the first time around, you’ll definitely want to catch up on them here.
